"I've been a student of American history, particularly the War between the States, since my youth. Being a Southerner, I've always been partial to the South's side in the war and I paint field portraits of Confederate leaders who have been longtime heroes of mine."
In 1973 Wright joined limited edition art print publishers, Gary Stone Press and through the years the popularity of his work has grown. His historic prints of the American fur trade, Indians, and the War between the States have resulted in sold out editions, some of which have appreciated more than 1000%. He was commissioned to create the poster for the Fine Arts Pavilion for the 1982 World's Fair held in Knoxville, Tennessee. His paintings have been used as covers for numerous magazines and books and his research has enabled him to write many historical articles for various publications. His Indian paintings have been issued in three successful series of Collector Plates and sculptures by the Hamilton Collection of Jacksonville, Florida.
